Spooky, scary, sinister. Bats. Misunderstood, maligned, and misrepresented in movies and media. With nearly 1200 species of bats known worldwide, they make up 1/5 of all mammals on earth. We have 12 species represented in Illinois & Iowa with half of those species being threatened or endangered in the state. Come learn more about these fascinating flying friends as we kick off our Halloween season and prepare for Boo at the Zoo!

Join us for Breakfast with the Bats on Saturday, October 13 at 8:30am.  You can get an exclusive tour of our Seba's short-tailed bat habitat in Biodiversity Hall and be the first to meet with Naturalists at the Bat Day activity station. Afterward you and your family can enjoy the rest of the day at the Zoo!
