A blockbuster report from the Associated Press reveals that vulnerable Rep. Rod Blum violated House ethics rules by failing to disclose an internet company that he owns and used his Congressional staff to promote for his own benefit. The internet marketing company, Tin Moon, is raising eyebrows for helping companies hide information about FDA safety warnings from consumers, putting Iowans’ safety at risk.

According to experts in the article, “Blum will likely face a review by the Office of Congressional Ethics or the House ethics committee, and could potentially draw scrutiny from the Justice Department.”

“This report is damning, and it’s downright disturbing that millionaire Congressman Rod Blum thinks he can play by his own rules at taxpayers’ expense - and lie about it on top of that,” said DCCC spokesperson Rachel Irwin. “Blum talks a big game of ‘draining the swamp,’ but his gross misuse of power is Washington at its worst. Given the conflict of interest this represents, Congressman Blum should comply with any investigations by the House Ethics Committee and explain to his constituents why he’s sneakily profiting from a company that puts their health and safety at risk.”
