DES MOINES, IOWA (April 8, 2019) — A broad coalition from around Iowa will gather on Wednesday, April 10, at the statehouse in support of HR18, a resolution in the Iowa House of Representatives that urges Iowa’s members of Congress to support the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019 (HR 6). This federal bill would provide permanent protections to recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Temporary Protected Status (TPS). So far Representative Dave Loebsack is the only member of Iowa’s Congressional delegation who has signed on as co-sponsor of the bill. The coalition from Iowa will be asking Reps Cindy Axne and Abby Finkenauer to add their names as co-sponsors and calling on Senators Joni Ernst and Charles "Chuck" Grassley to support similar legislation in the Senate.
