A special night of philanthropy to help children through and beyond their parent’s cancer
April 1, 2017 (Davenport, IA) – Camp Kesem at Augustana College, an organization dedicated to supporting children through and beyond their parent’s cancer, announces its annual Make the Magic event on Saturday, April 1, 2017 starting at 6:00 PM at the Bandits Champions Club.
Camp Kesem is the only national organization dedicated to the over 5 million children who have been touched by a parent’s cancer. For many children, their Camp Kesem experience is a life-changing event - providing them a community of children with similar experiences and a safe and welcoming environment to have fun and rediscover their childhood.
Driven by passionate college student volunteers, Camp Kesem at Augustana College supports the Quad City community. Funds raised during this annual fundraising night of dinner, philanthropy, and entertainment will help provide year-long peer support and send 120 campers to camp from July 9-15th. The event will include a cocktail hour and dinner, followed by our lively paddle raise and a fun game of heads or tails with speeches from campers and counselors.
There are countless families who have found joy in Camp Kesem. Campers such as Kiko will benefit from funds raised during this inspirational evening. “Camp Kesem has helped my son who lost his father at a young age understand and cope with the struggles of this loss. He has met children his own age and older who can relate with him on the impact cancer has made in their lives. The counselors are able to act as leaders and role models for my son. Letting him go to camp has been one of the best things I could have done for him.” –Traci, Camp Kesem parent
