The Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center at Main is pleased to present a variety of events during Preservation Week (April 22 – 28) that focus on family history!

Genealogy Night is an afterhours event on Sunday, April 22 from 3pm – 8pm. Come and research, meet other genealogists, get tips and tricks, and eat dinner! Cost is $10 per person. Please register by calling (563) 326-7902 or stopping by the Special Collections service desk at Main.

Genealogy Perspectives on Captivating Non-Genealogists with Family History Activities is a video showing on Tuesday, April 24 from 6:30pm – 8:00pm. Lisa Louise Cooke has several options for genealogist to captivate non-genealogists in their families and lives. We will view her series of videos, Inspiring Ways to Captivate the Non-Genealogists in Your Life. The series includes “gems” such as Christmas wreaths, wall displays and candy bars, all with a family history twist. Proudly co-sponsored by the Scott County Iowa Genealogical Society.

Preserving Family Heirlooms: Books, Paper, and Photographs is a workshop on Wednesday, April 25 at 6pm. Learn how to handle and care for family treasures to ensure that they are available for future generations to enjoy. Bring along books, papers and photographs that you've been wanting to preserve to practice.
