This time of year, winter winds and snow often seem to leave us with gateways littered with debris. Not only does the litter impact our waterways, but it leaves our community looking less than inviting.

Residents, businesses and organizations can help us improve our community and prevent litter from making it our creeks and streams by volunteering to help cleanup all of that litter in a couple of ways:

- Volunteer for the City’s Annual Corridor Cleanup, scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 25th. As part of the XStream series of cleanups happening throughout the year, the Corridor Cleanup is an opportunity for Davenport to shine, demonstrate stewardship of our natural resources, and take pride in the community where we live. Our volunteers have a blast cleaning up, and take pride in what they are able to accomplish. Knowing what it looked like before and then after is pretty awesome feeling. - Can’t make it on March 25th? Just want to make a difference in your own neighborhood? No problem, you can still get involved. Through the Waste Commission of Scott County’s iLivehere program, individuals and small groups can request litter pickup supplies such as gloves and bags, and larger groups such as businesses and organizations might consider adopting a spot to clean up twice a year through the agency’s Make It Yours program. Visit ilivehereqc.org for more information and details.

We hope to see you out there!
