DAVENPORT, IOWA (September 4, 2019) — Six candidates for mayor of Davenport, as well as more than 17 aldermen and their challengers, will participate in the first City Candidate Forum Tuesday, Septwnvwe 10, 5:30-8PM, at the downtown Davenport Public Library.

Women’s issues will be the focus, according to Iowa Women United, which is sponsoring the forum, with the local chapter of AAUW and Quad-City Moms Demand Action. Moderator will be Marcia Lense, news anchor with KWQC.

Doors open at 5PM. The program is free and open to the public. The mayoral candidates will be questioned first, sponsors said, and the public can then meet with candidates in each of the eight wards.

“Of course, ALL issues are women’s issues,” said Iowa State Representative Phyllis Thede, Bettendorf, member of the IWU and local AAUW president. “For this forum, we want to focus on pay equity, education and affordable housing.”

Gun violence will also be addressed.
