The Davenport Public Library, with the Downtown Davenport Partnership, will celebrate African American History Month with a Third Thursday open house event. Join us February 16th from 6:00-9:00 as we celebrate the Smithsonian's A Place for All People poster exhibit, on display at the Main Library.

The evening will also feature:

  • Live Music solo performances by Matt Fuller, Charlotte Boyer, Julianna Logan and Bethann Gavin!
  • Story Time!
  • Photo Exhibit by local artist Matthew Terry!
  • Food!
  • Giveaways!
  • Crafts and Activities!
  • Hand Painting!
  • And More!

All ages are welcome and the event is free to the public.

On display at the Davenport Main Library is “A Place for All People: Introducing the National Museum of African American History and Culture.” The commemorative poster exhibition will be on view January 18, 2017 through March 4th, 2017 at the Davenport Public Library – Main Library, located at 321 Main Street.

Also on display at the Main Library is the Putman Museum’s exhibit "Davenport's Civil Rights Movement: 1945-1974". The exhibit explores the people and events of those tumultuous years by putting local efforts in the national context.
