GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN (July 18, 2025) — Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative, one of the largest dairy cooperatives in the country based on milk, congratulates Julie Callahan on her nomination by President Donald J Trump to serve as Chief Agricultural Negotiator, Office of the United States Trade Representative, with the rank of Ambassador.

Callahan’s nomination comes at a critical time for agriculture as a number of important trade deals are being negotiated.

Agricultural industry groups had encouraged Pres Trump earlier this month to quickly fill the position left vacant since prior to the start of his administration.

“We are encouraged by the nomination of Julie Callahan to this important role in making sure agriculture is represented in trade negotiations,” Edge President Heidi Fischer said. “We look forward to continuing to work with her in this new role to grow global market opportunities for Edge's 800-plus dairy farmer members.”

Callahan’s nomination now moves to the Senate Finance Committee for consideration.

“We now encourage the Senate Finance Committee and the rest of the chamber to prioritize her confirmation and give her the political empowerment she needs to continue critical negotiations for US agriculture,” Fischer said.
