DAVENPORT, 12/20/16 - Ellis Kell passed away on Friday, December 16th at his home. A celebration of Ellis' life will be held on Wednesday, December 21st at the Adler Theater, in downtown Davenport. Visitation will start at 2:00 p.m., followed by a service at 3:30 p.m., and then the Ellis Kell Music Tribute & Jam Session will take place in the RME's Redstone Room at 6 p.m.
The tribute will feature music from Friends of RME & Ellis and a cash bar. Doors for the tribute open at 5:15 p.m. Proceeds will go to the Kell family.
Ellis truly was a local legend, and vital to the River Music Experience. From 2004 until his passing, he gave everything he could to ensure the community was able to listen to, learn about, and play music at RME.
His title at RME was Director of Programming and Community Outreach, which entailed organizing the wide variety of educational programming offered at RME. He also acted as the primary director of development, which ensured the financial health of RME through grants and donations.
Thousands of children experienced music in ways not possible without the vision and hard work of Ellis. He enriched our community in immeasurable ways, and it won't be the same without him.
