ANKENY, IOWA (April 29, 2026) — The Iowa Democratic Women’s Caucus (IDWC) is hosting “Campaign 101: Run! Join a Team! Make a Difference!,” a day of learning primarily for women of Iowa who are exploring a run for elected or appointed office or assisting with a campaign. The event will take place on May 9, 2026 and all are welcome.

Having hosted successful state and local-level training days in 2023, 2024, and 2025, the IWDC is presenting its sixth workshop this year to help women gain confidence and learn how they can get started in public service. The aim of this session is to educate and inspire candidates and their support teams. Topics covered will include how to prepare to run, campaign strategies, connect with media and voters, and everything in between. Along with presentations by current and former office-holders and campaign experts, a networking session will allow for questions and answers and discussion as well as hands on experience in talking to voters.

Board Chairwoman of the IDWC Jo Vetter said, “Our past events have been very well-received, and several attendees have decided to run for office. Now the Iowa Democratic Women’s Caucus Board is excited to offer this opportunity for those interested in running for local, county, and state office or boards or helping with a campaign. The sessions are practical and inspiring and our trainings are great for networking as well.”The workshop will be held at the IBEW 347 Union Hall, 6809 SE Bellagio Ct, Ankeny, Iowa, 9:30AM-4PM. Suggested donation amount of $25 will be used to cover lunch, snacks, and event expenses.
