ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (January 12, 2026) — Tired of winter? Escape to your own Book Island through the pages of a book! Our winter reading challenge for all ages starts today, Monday, January 12, and lasts through February 21.

Complete squares for racking up reading minutes and library activites on our bingo challenge. Participate though Beanstack or ask for a paper log. Either way, all ages earn registration and completion prizes.

All reading formats count towards minutes read — including read-to-me time with your child. Fill a line on your "card" in any direction to bingo and complete the challenge. Keep going, if you'd like — filling the whole card enters you in a special bonus drawing! Claim your registration and completion prizes at any Rock Island Public Library by February 28.

To register in Beanstack, use this link!

Enter and participate anytime during the challenge. All reading counts — including bedtime stories!

The Beanstack tracker app is also available for Android/Apple devices. Paper logs available at Rock Island Library locations and online.

For some tropical atmosphere, check out the palm tree paradise in our Downtown Children's Room and other locations. And if you'd like some sunny reads to try, let us know.

Holiday reminder: All Rock Island Public Library buildings are closed Monday, January 19 for Martin Luther King Junior Day.
