[Rock Island, IL:] From a new morning movie series to a second helping of a popular local history program, the Rock Island Library is offering plenty of support for adult learning and entertainment this February.
The library's new "Coffee and a Movie Morning" series starts at 9:30 am on Monday, February 12 in the Rock Island Downtown Library Community Room, 401 19th Street. The movie is based on Joanne Harris' 1999 novel, Chocolat. Coffee and a different theatrical release movie will be shown from 9:30 to noon on the second Monday of each month. Movie selections are available in the library newsletter.
For adults with technology questions, the Rock Island Public Library offers drop-in Technology Labs three Friday mornings each month. From 9:00 am to 10:30 am, one-on-one help will be available February 9 at the Downtown Library; February 16 at the 30/31 Library, and February 23 at the Southwest Library. No appointments are necessary for the first-come, first-served assistance. Participants should bring passwords and user names for any accounts they'll need to log into, and their device, if applicable.
Also in February, the library will offer a second helping of Rock Island local history stories and pictures from the Retro Quad Cities Facebook page. "A Look Through History with Retro Quad Cities" featuring presenter David Sebben, is Monday, February 26 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, at the Downtown Library. Sebben is the Retro Quad Cities administrator, and will cover new material that couldn't fit into his earlier January presentation.
