DIXON, IOWA (September 11, 2025) — On Saturday, September 13, 9-11AM, there will be a Monarch Migration Fun Run held at the Wapsi River Environmental Education Center in Dixon, Iowa. The Fun Run will benefit the Friends of the Wapsi Center.

This self-timed 5K and (New!) one-mile trail run will take you through the upland and bottomland forests and the prairies of the Wapsi River Center. There will be one wave starting at 9AM for both distances.

This run goes till 11AM, giving you plenty of time to run or walk the trails! Check-in for the run starts at 8:30AM. The check-in table and run start/finish will be on our main prairie near the observatory.

Registration costs $25 for children ages 16 and under and $30 for everyone else for both distances.

Registration includes a T-shirt and refreshments. Registration closes at 7:30AM on September 13.

If trail conditions are not favorable, the run will be cancelled and your registration fee will be considered a donation.

The Wapsi River Environmental Education Center can be found six miles south of Wheatland or one mile northwest of Dixon, Iowa, by taking County Road Y4E, then turn north at 52nd Avenue and follow the signs for about one mile.
