MOLINE, ILLINOIS (August 29, 2019) — The Quad City Engineering and Science Council (QCESC) is seeking presenters from area businesses to engage with students in our upcoming STEM student robotics kickoff event on September 14.

The John Deere Worldwide Headquarters in Moline will be the host for the 7th Annual FIRST(R) LEGO League and FIRST(R) LEGO League Junior season kickoffs on September 14. The event will be attended by 30+ teams from Illinois & Iowa. For the first time, John Deere is a global sponsor for the FIRST program reaching over 270,000 students in 113+ countries! Last year, there were 150+ teams within a 100 mile radius of Moline.

Each year, teams consisting of students age 9-14, are challenged to come up with innovative solutions to problems that they work on throughout the season. This year, teams will focus on the new CITY SHAPER challenge, which requires teams to come up with solutions involving buildings, public spaces, and connecting spaces including transportation system and bridges. Many Quad City businesses, including John Deere, directly connect with the new challenge.

The QCESC supports this kickoff and is seeking professionals from area businesses to engage with students aged 6-14. These professionals are being asked to support a display, interact and answer questions, and provide the students ideas for their project during the expo-style session, 9:30AM-12:05PM. Both FIRST LEGO League students (ages 9-14) and FIRST LEGO League Junior students (ages 6-10) will be attending the expos.

Professionals can sign up online to reserve a free Display Table by clicking on the following link: FLL Display Signup or visit the QCESC website at http://qcesc.org/quad-cities-first-lego-league-teamkickoff/ for more information.
