DAVENPORT, IA – Today, September 8th, in the latest sign of momentum for Fred Hubbell’s campaign for Iowa governor, former Davenport Mayors Bill Gluba and Thom Hart announced their endorsement of Fred in the Democratic primary.
Gluba, the second-longest serving Mayor in Davenport history, who previously served in both chambers of the Iowa legislature, and Hart, who now chairs the Scott County Democratic Party, join a growing cadre of Quad Cities-area Hubbell supporters.
Representative Cindy Winckler, Former Senator Frank Wood, and Alderman Mike Matson had previously announced their support for Fred Hubbell.
“Governor Kim Reynolds is taking Iowa in the wrong direction; it’s time we elect someone who can fix our budget mess and will fully invest in our ailing education system, that leader is Fred Hubbell,” said Former Davenport Mayor, Former Senator, Former Representative, and Former Chair of Scott County Board of Supervisors Bill Gluba. “Fred is a fair-minded and experienced leader who is not beholden to any special interests. I trust that he will raise incomes and invest in education in every corner of our state. He is the leader Iowa needs, and the candidate I know can win next fall. ”
“I worked at the Iowa Department of Economic Development when Fred Hubbell was tapped to help clean up the film tax credit scandal. I watched Fred solve tough problems, make important decisions, and help get that department back on track” said Former Davenport Mayor and Current Scott County Democrats Chair Thom Hart. “I am supporting Fred for Iowa governor because I know he will clean up the state budget; limiting wasteful corporate giveaways, and investing in priorities like education.”
“I am honored to have the support of Thom and Bill, two dedicated public servants who have devoted their lives to growing their city, and our state,” said Democratic candidate for governor Fred Hubbell. “I look forward to working with them as we fight to raise incomes from Sioux City to Davenport and get Iowa growing from the ground up.”
