January 14^th - Interactive Movie, Happy Feet, at Riverside Church Saturday 6-8 pm.  This free event has your kids eating snacks, doing tasks and actions, and saying some movie lines!  Kids 6 and under need a guardian to stay with them.  Kids 7 and older may be dropped off.

January 15^th- Enjoy Wings & Things! Bald eagle photo and video presentation by local wildlife photographer Burt Gearhart at the LeClaire Civic Center, 127 S. Cody Road in LeClaire, 2p.m. Burt will give an all-ages slide and video presentation and lecture that will reveal many interesting discoveries about Bald Eagles and their everyday lives in Iowa. See eagles diving for fish, eating while flying, flying with icicles on their toes and much more. Learn to distinguish between immature and mature eagles, what they eat, and why they winter in the area. Attendees will learn about this incredible wildlife opportunity to view and photograph the annual winter gathering of Bald Eagles along the Mississippi River north and south of LeClaire. At the conclusion of the presentation, attendees may join Burt at Lock & Dam 14 to view and photograph the Eagles of LeClaire. Burt's prints that celebrate Bald Eagles, the Mississippi River, and the historic beauty of LeClaire will also be on display. This program is FREE and open to the public.

January 21^st – Central DeWitt Performing Arts Center - Children's Entertainer Truly Remarkable Loon brought to you by Window World. 10:30am. $10 Adults, $5 Students. A comedian and juggler for 35 years, Loon engages children young and old as he juggles conventional things like balls and clubs to giant beanbag chairs and Harry Potter’s Nimbus 2000. Ten Scholarships Now Available. Ascentra Scholarship Competition offers $10,000 in Scholarships. Ascentra Credit Union is dedicated to creating opportunities for members to pay for higher education in the form of the Ascentra Credit Union Scholarship Competition.  The competition is now underway with a total of $10,000 in scholarships available to Ascentra members planning to further their education starting the 2017 – 2018 school year.  The ten scholarships are awarded to students as follows: Five $1,000 scholarships for high school students planning to enter college. Five $1,000 scholarships for members age 19 or over, considered non-traditional or continuing education students.  The scholarship entrants will be judged on a 500-word essay on the topic, “How do credit unions distinguish themselves from other financial institutions?”  All entries are judged on their essay, resume, awards, extracurricular activities, volunteer services and work experience.  Deadline for the Ascentra Scholarship Competition is March 1, 2017.  Applications and official rules may be picked up at any of our branches or found online at www.ascentra.org/scholarships. There members can find information on other scholarships.

Milestones Cafe, at the First Presbyterian Church, LeClaire, is looking for people to join them for lunch on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Eating at church, at the “Milestones Café” provides a social opportunity, a nutritious meal at an affordable price, a good reason to get out of the house and a break from cooking! Cost: for 60+ years of age, suggested donation is $3.50. For those under 60, cost is $8.50. If you are interested, call 855-410-6222, to RSVP for one or more meals.
