DAVENPORT, IOWA (December 3, 2019) — Throughout 2019, Genesis Health System has been reflecting on its past, responding to today’s needs of the communities it serves and is also looking forward as it celebrates 150 years of service. December 7 is the anniversary of the opening of the first Davenport hospital in 1869.

One of the innovations available now at Genesis is an exoskeleton to serve patients who have suffered life-altering spinal-cord injuries, stroke, or traumatic brain injury. The observance of Genesis's forthcoming 150th anniversary will be the occasion on Friday, December 6, 10AM, for a news conference and demonstration of the exoskeleton's utility. Bob Juarez, a former Davenport firefighter who suffered severe injuries from a fall while fighting a fire in 2008, will demonstrate the exoskeleton at the conference.

This event will occur near the history wall and cafeteria on the ground floor of Genesis Medical Center, 1227 East Rusholme Street, Davenport.
