MORE THAN $106,000 OF SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Jan. 23, 2018 – Applications are now available for more than $106,000 of scholarships for nursing students.

Genesis Health System offers nursing students several options for educational advancement, including work toward BSN scholarships, degree completion scholarships and advanced degree scholarships.

The scholarship funds are raised by the annual Genesis Pro-Am Golf Classic. Title sponsors in 2017 were Quad City Bank and Trust and Lexus of the Quad Cities.

“An important role of the Genesis Foundation and affiliated foundations is to help Genesis Health System develop skilled, compassionate nurses who continueto provide care to patients for decades into the future,’’ said Missy Gowey, executive director, Genesis Foundation. “It’s a great career with life-long learning and life-long employment opportunities.

“We know the need for skilled nurses is going to continue. These scholarship programs help Genesis recruit and retain a highly trained nursing staff.’’

The Genesis Health Services Foundation Traditional Nursing Scholarship provides $10,000 forgivable loans to students seeking admission to, or students who have been accepted into, an undergraduate baccalaureate nursing program. The repayment is waived when the scholarship recipient has completed a required period of employment with Genesis.

Degree completion scholarships of as much as $4,000 are available for Genesis nurses who are completing BSN or MSN degrees.

Other scholarships available include the Gaye J. Reiser Nursing Scholarship ($1,000) for Genesis staff enrolled in an RN program.

Genesis Medical Center, Silvis; Genesis Medical Center, Aledo; and, Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt also have various scholarship opportunities.

Applications are now available. For most opportunities, application deadline is March 31.
