CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (November 27, 2019) — Trees Forever, the City of Cedar Rapids and the Holloway Environmental Trust announce Dr George Hess with North Carolina State University's Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources; will be the keynote speaker at Our Woodland Legacy Symposium.

The symposium is on Thursday, December 12, 8:30AM-4PM, at the Cedar Rapids Country Club, located at 550 27th St Dr SE.

Dr Hess will talk about how we can bring nature to urban spaces, and he will summarize research about how natural areas and green spaces in cities support healthy cultures, people, and the environment.

"This event brings together municipal and county leaders, business leaders, educators, engineers, developers, planners, architects, conservationists, and activist citizens," Trees Forever CEO and Founding President Shannon Ramsay said. "Together we explore sustainable community development, considering the impact of trees and other green infrastructure on our local communities' livability, economy, wellness, and our children's ability to learn and thrive."

Space is limited. Attendees are asked to register at www.treesforever.org/symposium.
