DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 6, 2026) — A chocolate trend that’s been capturing attention for its rich flavor and Middle Eastern roots has found a home in the Quad Cities — and it’s being handcrafted by refugee neighbors rebuilding their lives.

Tapestry Farms, a nonprofit urban farm and social enterprise, has launched small-batch Dubai chocolate bars, inspired by the flavors and textures that have made Dubai chocolate a TikTok trend and fast-growing favorite. Known for its combination of smooth chocolate, pistachio cream, and delicate crunch, it’s a decadent, gift-worthy treat — perfect for Valentine’s Day.

At Tapestry Farms, each bar is handmade by refugees employed through the organization.

“Dubai chocolate has an excitement and curiosity surrounding it right now,” said Ann McGlynn, executive director of Tapestry Farms.

“Our team members, Fatima Hussein and Betul Qamizou, suggested we make it for friends, neighbors, and supporters to experience. It’s delicious and it’s such a joy for us to be able to share the talent and traditions that our refugee neighbors bring to our community.”

The launch of Tapestry Farms Dubai chocolate for the Valentine season connects global culture with local impact. Refugee team members use a traditional Arabic recipe and produce the chocolate in small batches, emphasizing quality, care, authenticity. Every purchase directly supports Tapestry Farms’ model of care — creating jobs for refugee women while funding comprehensive wraparound social services, including healthcare, housing, and education navigation, legal services, employment support, English class, transportation and much, much more.

The organization is offering the chocolate bars alongside its flower bouquets, creating gift options that are both thoughtful and meaningful.

As interest grows around Dubai chocolate and people see it more and more in the grocery store and at their favorite coffee shop, Tapestry Farms’ Dubai chocolate offers Quad Citians a chance to experience a new and trendy flavor while directly supporting neighbors who are beginning new lives in the Quad Cities.
