DUBUQUE, IOWA (December 18, 2019) — As part of an unprecedented nationwide campaign to mobilize Our Revolution activists across the country, Our Revolution will host a town hall on Wednesday, December 18, 6:30-8PM, at United Steelworkers Union Local 105 (880 Devils Glen Road, Bettendorf, Iowa), which will highlight ongoing efforts to combat President Donald Trump’s war on workers.
With special guests Bob King, former international president of the United Autoworkers, Bob Morrison, a long-time worker at the Siemens plant in Burlington who was laid off, and Larry Cohen, chair of Our Revolution, Monday’s town hall is one stop on an Iowa tour that aims to organize local workers and advocates to support progressive candidates up and down the ballot, including presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
“Donald Trump promised to be a workers champion. Instead, he rewards companies who send jobs overseas with billions in federal contracts. It’s time for us to hold the Trump administration accountable for its broken promises and elect a president who stands with working people,” said Larry Cohen, chair of Our Revolution. “2020 is a must win moment for our movement — it’s the best opportunity we have to transform our political system — and take power back from the corporate elite.”
