A recent month-long giving campaign initiated by Gordmans through its partnership with DonorsChoose.org provided close to $50,000 in funding for classroom projects across Gordmans’ 59 store markets that participated in the back-to-school campaign. Through Gordmans’ gThanks program, store guests were given the opportunity to make a pin-pad donation at checkout during the back-to-school shopping season. Through DonorsChoose.org, teachers in Gordmans’ store markets had the ability to submit their “wish list” projects to elevate the educational experience for their students.

Teachers often have school project needs that exceed what is available in the budget, and in an effort to provide the lessons that will help their students later in life, they sometimes pay out of their own pockets to make these learning experiences possible. As a result of the recent gThanks campaign, Gordmans guests were able to bring classroom dreams to life in their area.

“At Gordmans, we know our guests care deeply about their communities and their schools, and we are proud to support students and teachers alike,” said Bill Gentner, EVP and Chief Marketing Officer of Stage Stores, Gordmans’ parent company. “Our customers stepped up to support the needs of teachers to provide students with learning opportunities that wouldn’t have been otherwise available.”

ABOUT DONORSCHOOSE.org

DonorsChoose.org is the leading platform for giving to public schools. Teachers across America use the site to create projects requesting resources their students need, and donors give to the projects that inspire them. Since its founding by a Bronx teacher in 2000, more than 2 million people and partners have given $546 million to projects reaching 23 million students. Unique among crowdfunding platforms, the DonorsChoose.org team vets each project request and ships resources directly to the school. Every donor receives photos of their project in action, thank-yous from the classroom, and a cost report showing how every dollar was spent. DonorsChoose.org was the first charity to make the top 10 on Fast Company’s list of the Most Innovative Companies in the World. Visit DonorsChoose.org to learn more.
