DES MOINES, IOWA (July 26, 2026) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced the US Small Business Administration (SBA) has granted her request to provide assistance in the form of low-interest disaster loans for eight counties impacted by severe storms, heavy rain, and flash-flooding between July 2 and 4, 2026.
Homeowners, renters, businesses, and most non-profit organizations in Boone, Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Polk, Story, and Warren Counties whose property was damaged or destroyed by this disaster can apply for low-interest disaster loans from the SBA. Additionally, small businesses, agricultural cooperatives, and most private, non-profit organizations impacted by the severe weather will be eligible to apply for working capital loans.
Disaster-loan applications can be submitted online at lending.sba.gov or in person at designated assistance centers. For details on center hours and locations, visit disasterrecovery.iowa.gov/SBA. Applicants may also contact the SBA Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955, or e-mail disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for additional information. Individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability can access telecommunications relay services by dialing 7-1-1.
The deadline to apply for physical damage is September 21, 2026. The deadline to apply for economic injury is April 23, 2027.
