DES MOINES, IOWA (July 13, 2026) — Governor Kim Reynolds has issued the following statement in response to news of the death of US Senator Lindsey Graham: 

“Sen Lindsey Graham’s decades-long service in Washington DC is legendary, and he will be greatly missed. I’ll remember him fondly for his big personality and southern charm, but most importantly for his unwavering patriotic spirit,” said Gov Kim Reynolds.

“My prayers are with his family and friends.”

DES MOINES, IOWA (July 10, 2026) — Governor Kim Reynolds has ordered flags in Iowa lowered to half-staff at sunrise on Friday, July 10, until sunset on Friday, July 17, in honor and remembrance of Iowa native, US Air Force Maj Brad Hovey.

Maj Hovey was a pilot with the 419th Flight Test Squadron at Edwards Air Force Base in California. He was killed during a B-52 flight test mission on June 15, 2026.

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 29, 2026) — Governor Kim Reynolds has appointed Elizabeth Lee as a District Associate Judge in Judicial District 8A.

Lee, of Ottumwa, Iowa, serves as Assistant Wapello County Attorney. She received her undergraduate degree from University of Iowa and law degree from University of Iowa College of Law.

DES MOINES, IOWA (June 25, 2026) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced that she has appointed Patrick Tomka as Chief Operating Officer of the Office of the Governor.

Tomka has served as the governor's Senior Tax and Economic Policy Advisor since October 2021 and was instrumental in developing legislation for the governor’s income, unemployment and property tax reform packages in recent years.

He will retain his current policy responsibilities while in his new role.
