DES MOINES, IOWA (October 1, 2025) — Governor Kim Reynolds has announced she has appointed Mark Campbell as director of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services effective October 6, 2025.
A Fort Dodge native, Campbell is a small-business-owner who has also served his community for more than a decade as a Webster County Supervisor from 2013 to 2024.
“Mark’s career reflects his dedication to leadership, business innovation, and community progress,” Gov Reynolds said. “He is keenly focused on doing his part to help build a stronger future for Iowa, and I know he will bring that mindset and dedication to DAS as its new leader.
“I also want to express my gratitude to Kraig Paulsen, Director of the Department of Management, for serving as DAS interim director over the last several weeks and assisting with the leadership transition," Gov Reynolds added.
Campbell’s public service also includes influential roles at the state level. He served as Vice Chair of the Iowa State Association of Counties Board of Directors, helping shape statewide policy and collaboration among counties. He also chaired the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, overseeing regulatory responsibilities and guiding one of the state’s key industries.

DAS requires accountability and collaboration to strengthen the foundation for every agency to best serve Iowans.”
The Department of Administrative Services manages the major resources of state government across four distinct business areas: Human Resources, General Services, Central Procurement and Fleet Services, and State Accounting. The State Library of Iowa and State Historical Society of Iowa are also overseen by the department.
