DES MOINES, IOWA (December 19, 2019) — Governor Kim Reynolds offered a sincere and heartfelt congratulations to current Director of the Iowa Department of Education Ryan Wise, who has accepted a new position at Drake University, on Wednesday, December 18. The details of the transition are still being finalized.

“Ryan Wise is a true public servant who leaves behind a tenure of unmatched passion and dedication to educating Iowa’s children,” said Gov Reynolds. “He was a critical partner in our efforts to immerse students in a dynamic learning environment that prepares them for the ever-changing 21st century. The current dean of the Drake School of Education is an essential partner in our state’s STEM efforts, so I know we all look forward to continuing to work with Ryan in this new role.”

“It’s been an honor to serve Iowa as director of the Iowa Department of Education,” Wise said. “I’d like to thank Gov Reynolds and Lieutenant Gov [Adam] Gregg, as well as Ambassador [Terry] Branstad, for entrusting me with this responsibility. I’m also grateful for the dedicated public servants at the Department of Education and in our schools and community colleges. I'm proud of the progress we've made and look forward to continuing the work to strengthen the state’s education system at Drake University.”
