DES MOINES, IOWA (October 11, 2019) — With more than 120 million people across North America not possessing updated estate-plans, Governor Kim Reynolds has joined the Mid-Iowa Planned Giving Council and Planned Giving Councils across the state to encourage all Iowans to seek the help of a trusted financial planner to create or review their will. Furthermore, they encourage Iowans to consider estate gifts that will enable the nonprofit sector to continue to serve and sustain the quality of life that makes our state and its communities good places to live, work, and raise families.
"October is a perfect time to either create or update your estate plan," states Mid-Iowa Planned Giving President Caleb Hegna. "No matter your age or level of wealth, estate-planning is essential. Without an estate plan, state law determines how your property is distributed, which is unlikely to reflect your wishes. Planning now ensures your personal values and interests align with your financial goals — so your wealth is used to support the people and causes you care about even after you are gone."
Among the events that are being conducted throughout the state to promote Estate Planning is the annual Mid Iowa Planned Giving Council Fall Conference for professionals of all levels of expertise.
