DES MOINES, IOWA (September 18, 2019) — Today, Governor Kim Reynolds and other members of President Trump’s American Workforce Advisory Board laid out key recommendations to help Americans find multiple pathways to a rewarding career. The board proposed a private-sector-led marketing campaign, digital-resume workshops, and a more-integrated sharing of workforce-related data between the state and federal government.

“As the economy continues to grow and wages rise, there's even more opportunity for individuals to take that next step toward a rewarding career,” said Gov. Reynolds. “In Iowa, we have seen incredible success from private-public partnerships and grassroots action, through the Future Ready Iowa Initiative, the Virtual Clearinghouse for Workbased Learning, and Registered Apprenticeships. The American Workforce Advisory Board provides us with a growing national audience to tell our story.”

Gov Reynolds said her administration has spent the better part of a year marketing Future Ready Iowa to students, educators, and companies across the state. Whether it’s using the Governor’s office as a platform, or regional meetings to raise awareness and involvement, Future Ready Iowa’s success can be replicated.

The American Workforce Advisory Board is chaired by Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross and Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump. Gov Reynolds serves on two subcommittees on the Workforce Advisory Board: a subcommittee to Develop a Campaign to Promote Multiple Pathways to Career Success, chaired by Apple CEO Tim Cook and IBM CEO Ginni Rometty, and a subcommittee to Modernize Candidate Recruitment and Training Practices.

The third Workforce Advisory Board meeting took place at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington in the District of Columbia.
