The Current Iowa, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, is hosting a grand opening event unlike any other. #ExactlyLikeNothingElse Come join us in celebrating the opening of this new art-inspired hotel and enjoy all The Current’s grand opening party has to offer from live DJ music, to face painting to live painting to beer tastings to world-record-setting murals! Shuttles to Hot Glass and mural painting begin at 11:00 am. Guided hotel tours begin at 1:00 pm with refreshments and Great River Brewery beer tastings will be provided through 5:00 pm. Artists Nancy Spurlock and Andy Cross conceptualized a 9’ x 156’ artwork which is central to the event that we’re calling “Stroll the Chol,” which gives the Quad Cities community the opportunity to take part in the creation of a mural that will set the World Record for the largest painting of a phoenix ever created! The Chol is a mythical bird celebrated in ancient Jewish folklore that, in rising from its own ashes, serves as a hopeful symbol of restoration and new life. At Restoration St. Louis, we likewise strive to continue the story of our historic buildings, paying homage to their past, while renewing them with an everlasting new life and energy. Bring your painting clothes, take a tour of the art-inspired hotel, and come help us make history at The Current’s Grand Opening! When: Saturday, September 9 11:00 am — 7:00 pm Where: The Current Iowa 215 N Main St. Davenport, IA 52801 www.TheCurrentIowa.com - 563 – 231 - 9555
