The State Society of Iowa was formed nearly a century ago as a way for Iowans in the nation’s capital to celebrate the history and culture of Iowa, as well as stay connected to each other and the state. Members of the State Society of Iowa come from all walks of life and cities and towns throughout the state. Some grew up in Iowa and still have deep family roots there, while others called the state home for only a short period of time, while still others consider themselves “Iowan by association.” The State Society is open to anyone who wishes to join, whether a native Iowan or simply a friend of the State.
