East Moline, IL – Gregg Johnson, Democratic candidate for Illinois State Senate District 36, announced at a campaign stop on Sunday that he will donate his entire legislative salary to local non-profits hurt by the 700-day budget crisis created by Governor Rauner and State Senator Anderson.

“Too many politicians are all talk, it’s time leaders put their money where their mouth is.  Beginning in January, I’ll donate my legislative salary to local non-profits until I’ve participated in a successful budget process. Too many people have suffered from the crisis created by my opponent and too many non-profits are still closed,” Gregg said. “I believe in leading by example.  Unlike my opponent, who claims to champion a “no budget no pay” law but accepted every single one of his own paychecks, I will follow through on my promises starting today, by donating 4,000 dollars of my own personal money to non-profits.”

Johnson, a lifelong resident of the Quad Cities, has seen first-hand the suffering that Governor Rauner and Senator Anderson’s budget impasse has created in the area.  He is committed to restoring funding for vital programs focused on mental health, veterans’ services, opioid addiction, breast cancer treatment, and children with autism.
