  • Training on how to operate through local repeater systems

Ham radio operators provide valuable communications in an emergency. Many Counties use ham radio operators to support Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training and actual call-outs. This two-day class will feature live radio equipment for everyone to learn to operate.

Pre-Study before class and spend two days reviewing to pass your amateur radio element 2 FCC Technician class examination, right in the classroom on day 2

  • Earn full ham radio Technician class radio privileges

  • Operate radio communications through Satellites and International Space Station (ISS)

  • Operate ham radio television (ATV) and computer radio photos (SSTV)

  • Become a ham radio emergency responder

  • Communicate around the world, make friends in foreign countries

  • Communicate through local Repeaters for enhanced coverage

$65 fee, due at registration, covers book, materials, and test fee on second day

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED by January 20th

Register by calling Eastern Iowa Community College Registration @ 1-888-336-3907, no later than January 20th. Early registration will guarantee study book and material will be available.

Books, materials and study assignments will be handed out by special arrangement, OR January 21st 10am to 11am, at the college. Register early, get study material early, have more time to study before 1st class! Pre-Study is required!!
