IA/IL QUAD-CITIES – Quad-Cities family members, from preschoolers to grandparents, can have fun and learn about healthy lifestyles at Healthy Happy Families Fun Day, an annual event created to foster community health awareness. This year’s event will feature a table for The Journey from Dude to Dad, www.journey2dad.com – the new Quad-Cities-based blog that pays tributes to new dads and offers support and valuable information.
Healthy Happy Families Fun Day will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the Quad City Botanical Center, 2525 4th Ave., Rock Island, IL. The event will connect health-conscious area families with vendors who can help them to reach their lifestyle goals. Sponsor tables will be located on the grounds of the Quad City Botanical Center. Admission is free and family members of every age are welcome. The event is sponsored by the Healthy Happy Families Foundation, Mickle Communications, and QC Family Focus.
Features of the event will include bounce houses for kids, healthy snacks, giveaways, and the Child ID Machine, hosted by Thrivent Financial, which will provide parents with handy ID cards for their children. “Businesses and community members who’d like to get involved should feel free to contact us,” said Mike Mickle, Founder of the Healthy Happy Families Foundation. “We expect a big turn-out and like last time, it’s sure to be a lot of fun.”
The table for The Journey from Dude to Dad will be staffed by some of the dads who are now bloggers on the website at www.journey2dad.com. “The Journey from Dude to Dad has an important mission,” said Mickle, creator of the blog. “It provides guidance and support for dads with or without experience, dads who are terrified or ecstatic, dudes who are about to become a dad, dudes who someday want to be a dad, and more. Most importantly, we empower and educate in a fun way.”
The mission of the Healthy Happy Families Foundation is to strengthen families with a proactive approach, empowering children with good decision-making skills and parents with resources. The Healthy Happy Families Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) formed in 2016.
