SEPTEMBER 28TH 2017, DES MOINES - A familiar face and voice will return to Iowa in late September to advocate for a greater focus and awareness for skilled trades and laborers. Executive Producer and Host of the hit TV series Dirty Jobs, Mike Rowe has long been an advocate for skilled trades jobs, even appearing in front of the United States Congress on multiple occasions to offer testimony. It's a mission that the Homebuilders Association of Iowa wants to shed more light on, in Iowa.  "There's nobody better than Mike Rowe when it comes to promoting the trades" said Dan Knoup, Executive Officer of the Des Moines HBA." "The skilled trades workforce is hiring, and we want to do our part to bring more attention to these jobs as viable careers for current students to consider." There will be a number of students in attendance at the event, as each table purchased at the event includes (2) seats donated to a student or educator - a $300 value. Additionally, after expenses are covered, the Home Builders Association of Iowa will donate all profits to a variety of apprentice and vocational student scholarships.  "We're talking the talk and walking the walk" added Knoup. "Our partners are offering tremendous financial support to host Mike Rowe for this important experience for students and a wonderful commentary that the public is welcome to; and we hope to return thousands of dollars to their respective scholarship programs." In addition to the important role the skilled trades play in the economy and workforce, you may expect to hear something else - avoiding significant college debt by pursuing a skilled trades career.  The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the event by purchasing individual tickets for $150 or VIP Tables for 10 (includes 2 students at table) for $1,200. Additional partnerships for the event are also being offered through the Home Builders Association of Iowa. Following a social and dinner, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds will kick off the evening's festivities before giving way to Mike Rowe.  EVENT DETAILS:  Thursday, September 28th 2017  Iowa Events Center  730 3rd Street / Des Moines, IA  4pm to 8pm  -30-
