Amidst New Report, Fred Calls For Fiscal Impact Analysis And Caps And Sunsets For Every State Tax Credit, Deduction, And Exemption

Momentum For Team Hubbell Grows As Grassroots Supporters Share Fred’s Vision Across The State

With just over 100 days until the June primary, Team Hubbell had another energizing week! While grassroots supporters hit the pavement meeting voters and sharing Fred’s vision for Iowa, Fred’s been on the front lines calling for responsible fiscal leadership and working to restore people-first priorities to get Iowa back on track.

As Governor Kim Reynolds’ budget mismanagement spirals out of control, a new report this week brought to light the latest runaway tax credits, with the state doling out $66 million just this past year to largely big corporations.  Continuing his commitment to restoring fiscal integrity, Fred called for a comprehensive review and caps and sunsets for every state tax credit, deduction, and exemption. Rather than squandering hundreds of millions of dollars each year on wasteful giveaways, Fred’s vision will restore fiscal responsibility to invest in the right priorities -- strengthening our education system, expanding access to health care, and supporting community development -- to get Iowa growing the right way.

“I call for an immediate fiscal impact ratio analysis and caps and sunsets on every tax credit, deduction, and exemption in our tax code. It's poor fiscal policy that is crippling our state budget. It's time to restore responsible fiscal leadership so that we can put Iowa's budget behind the right priorities: investing in our people, not special interests." -Fred Hubbell

Also this week, Team Hubbell hit the ground with excitement, knocking doors and phoning neighbors from Sioux City to Dubuque sharing Fred’s positive, progressive vision for Iowa. All over the state, Fred’s grassroots support continues to set the standard for success, as momentum builds to elect Fred as Iowa’s next governor and restore people-first leadership to Terrace Hill.

While Governor Kim Reynolds and Republican leaders further their egregious cuts to Iowa’s education system, voters are raising their voices and fighting back.
