4,000 Colorado Blue Spruce seedlings will be given to Hy-Vee customers on Friday

DAVENPORT, Iowa (April 25, 2018) — Hy-Vee, Inc. announced today that it will celebrate Arbor Day by giving away more than 4,000 Colorado Blue Spruce seedlings to customers across the company’s eight-state region. The event is funded by Hy-Vee’s One Step program, which turns proceeds from everyday products into donations that help to feed the hungry, grow community gardens, build wells and plant trees.

Hy-Vee employees will be handing out approximately 500 free seedlings to customers at the West Kimberly Road Hy-Vee on Friday, April 27. Supplies are limited. Starting at 4 p.m., the first 500 customers through the checkout lanes will be given a free Colorado Blue Spruce seeding as they exit the store. The event will end once supplies run out.

In partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, Hy-Vee volunteers also will plant more than 3,000 trees at the Winford Wildlife Management Area in New Sharon, Iowa, on Friday.
