ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS (June 13, 2025) — Thousands are expected to gather at Schwiebert Riverfront Park on Saturday, June 14, 1-3PM, to give voice to grave concerns about the erosion of democracy and human rights under the Trump administration.
“Ours is a movement for people who are determined to turn fear, anger, and grief into action,” says Indivisible QC founder Victoria Masters.
“We’re here to hold each other up, protect each other, and fight for our values.”
Since returning to office, President Trump and the GOP have presided over an assault on federal workers, veterans’ benefits, gay and trans rights, the environment, refugee and immigrant rights, and the Constitution itself.
Republican politicians in Iowa like Gov Kim Reynolds, Sens Joni Ernst and Charles “Chuck” Grassley, and Rep Mariannette Miller-Meeks have actively enabled this destructive agenda.
“In a community, what happens to one of us, happens to all of us,” says an Indivisible QC event organizer. “The decisions our politicians are making may be a game to them, but we are the ones who have to live with the consequences.”
The rally will be MCed by Rock Island Board Member Kai Swanson and will feature several local speakers describing how this assault has affected our local communities — highlighting the impact of authoritarian rule on immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, and the environment.
Indivisible QC is a local chapter of Indivisible that began operations in East Moline, IL on Inauguration Day, January 20, 2025. Since then, our membership has grown to cover the entire Quad Cities metro region, and we have organized well-attended events like the April 5th “Hands Off” Rally in Davenport, Iowa and the May 1st "May Day Strong: We are the Many!" event in Moline, Illinois. We are a grassroots movement of ordinary citizens exercising our First Amendment rights to call out the destructive, anti-democratic actions of the Trump administration and help build alternative democratic futures
