EGG-ON-A-STICK SETS STATE FAIR RECORD

Urbandale, Iowa (August 28, 2017) - Iowa's egg farmers celebrated another new record for eggs-on-a-stick at the recently completed Iowa State Fair.

A total of 162,576 eggs were handed out to fairgoers.  This breaks last year's record by almost 4,000 eggs!  This shows that egg-on-a-stick continues to be a fair favorite!

Iowa Egg Council Executive Director Kevin Stiles said, "The egg-on-a-stick has become a family tradition for many fairgoers.  For many, it's their first stop before seeing the butter cow, and other fair attractions."

Stiles said, "People recognize the nutritional quality of the egg.  They know that eating one egg is going to provide them with 6 grams of high quality protein and only 70 calories.  Just the type of nutrition they need to keep them going for a day of fun at the fair."

"Distributing 162,576 eggs is a lot of work, and is accomplished by a team of volunteers.  We could not pull off the numbers of eggs we hand out, each year, without the help of our volunteers.  We are thankful to all of those who help out at our booth so fairgoers can enjoy a free, nutritious treat," Stiles said.

"We plan on being back next year so don't forget to stop by the Ag Building and get your egg-on-a-stick!"
