DES MOINES, IOWA (June 25, 2026) — The Iowa Medical Society (IMS) has launched the Iowa Health Care Job Board, a new statewide workforce recruitment platform designed to help health systems, clinics, and private practices attract and recruit health-care talent across Iowa.

The new platform stems from recommendations from Operation IOWA (Innovative Opportunities for Workforce Action), IMS’s statewide physician workforce initiative focused on combatting Iowa’s growing health care workforce shortage through both policy and long-term pipeline solutions.

The IMS Iowa Health Care Job Board supports recruitment across a broad range of health-care roles, including physicians, advanced practice providers, administrative professionals, clinical support, and other health-care positions.

The platform is available at: iowamedical.org/job-board

Operation IOWA was launched by IMS in December 2024 after convening more than sixty physician leaders, health-care executives, educators, and community stakeholders to address Iowa’s physician workforce challenges. Since then, IMS has advanced multiple workforce-focused initiatives, including physician mentorship development, K-12 physician outreach efforts, and legislative advocacy focused on physician recruitment, retention, and reducing administrative burdens.

“Iowa’s health-care workforce challenges extend beyond physician shortages, affecting the entire health care system, especially in rural and underserved communities,” said IMS President Lillian Erdahl MD.

“The IMS Iowa Health Care Job Board is another important step in helping connect Iowa health-care employers with talented health-care professionals while supporting broader efforts through Operation IOWA to strengthen Iowa’s future physician and overall health-care workforce pipeline.”

The job board allows employers to post and manage open positions while reaching a targeted audience of health care professionals interested in opportunities across Iowa.

IMS leaders say the initiative reflects the organization’s broader commitment to improving access to care, supporting physician recruitment and retention, and strengthening Iowa’s health-care infrastructure long term.

Health care organizations interested in posting job openings on the IMS Iowa Health Care Job Board can contact Heather Lee at hlee@iowamedical.org or visit iowamedical.org/job-board/ for more information.
