JOHNSTON, IOWA (August 23, 2021) — After 10 fresh and flavorful seasons, Iowa PBS's Iowa Ingredient is hanging up its apron. The locally-produced series that takes viewers on an exploration of the farms, chefs, and ingredients that make Iowa food uniquely Iowan will premiere its tenth, and final, season Thursday, September 2, 6:30PM.
“I'm very proud of the work we've done over the last decade, and so grateful that I had the opportunity to be a part of a program I truly love,” said host Charity Nebbe. “I've eaten a lot of incredible food and the Iowa Ingredient team has gotten to show some of the truly wonderful things about Iowa and local food. I hope our viewers have enjoyed this journey as much as I have, and savor every episode of our final season!”
Throughout Season 10, Iowa Ingredient fans will be treated to a journey across the state with Nebbe, meeting farmers, growers, and producers of bok choy, lettuce, cantaloupe, turkey, cheddar cheese, collard greens, pork, and dill. As always, resourceful Iowa chefs will be invited into the studio kitchen, joining Nebbe to create viewer-friendly recipes that can be tried at home using fresh, local ingredients. The season will also feature a Halloween special with tricks, treats and spooktacular foods!
“Season 10, just like all of Iowa Ingredient, has been so rewarding — and delicious — to create! Knowing this season was our last, we knew we wanted to explore extraordinary ingredients that define Iowa's food scene in both traditional and nontraditional ways,” said Producer/Director Deb Herbold. “We even got some of our favorite chefs to join us in the studio kitchen one last time, which was a great way to wrap up such a wonderful show and experience.”
This season will feature Iowa chefs including Chef Katy Meyer of Trumpet Blossom Cafe in Iowa City, Executive Chef and Professor Dean Luttrell at DMACC in Ankeny, Chef Terrie Kohl of Country Club Market in Clive, and Chef David Baruthio of Des Moines.
New episodes premiere Thursdays at 6:30PM and repeat Saturday mornings at 11:30. The series is also available to stream on iowapbs.org/iowaingredient and the PBS Video App. Recipes from each episode are also available at iowapbs.org/iowaingredient so viewers can cook along at home.
