Prichard previously served with Mowrer in Iraq and has fought for voting rights in the Iowa House of Representatives

DES MOINES, Iowa – State Representative Todd Prichard (D-Charles City) has endorsed Jim Mowrer for Iowa Secretary of State and will join his campaign as co-chair of the committee.

“I’ve served with Jim in Iraq and have been honored to call him a friend for many years. I know it’s time for a leader like Jim Mowrer in the Secretary of State’s office,” said Todd Prichard. “Jim’s commitment to public service is undeniable. Overseas, I saw him work to ensure that his fellow soldiers were able to vote and exercise one of the rights they were sacrificing so much to protect. As our next Secretary of State, I know he will work with the legislature to make voting secure and accessible to all eligible voters and make needed improvements to modernize business filings in the state. It’s time to end the partisanship and political games that have made exercising basic rights as difficult and expensive as possible, and I have no doubt Jim Mowrer is the right person to do that.”

Prichard joins Story County Democratic Chair and Democratic National Committee Member Jan Bauer as chair of Mowrer’s campaign. Mowrer previously announced a campaign steering committee including party leaders, elected officials, and county auditors from across the state.

“It’s an honor to have Todd’s support in this race. In the Iowa House of Representatives, he has been a steadfast advocate for the rights of Iowans and I look forward to working with him as Iowa Secretary of State,” said Mowrer.
