AMES, IA (02/13/2019) — Members of the Student Subunit of the Iowa Chapter of the American Fisheries Society attended the 2019 Midwest Fish and Wildlife Conference where they participated in technical presentations, poster displays, plenary sessions, networking opportunities and social events and received the Most Active Chapter Award.

Matthew Dollenbacher, majoring in Animal Ecology, of Bettendorf

Riley Nylin, majoring in Agricultural Systems Technology, of Eldridge

The Most Active Chapter Award is given to the North Central Division student subunit that has carried out the most active program in developing interest among undergraduate and graduate students in fisheries science and fulfilling the mission of the American Fisheries Society.

Additionally, students attended technical presentations, poster displays, plenary sessions, networking opportunities, and social events with biologists and scientists from agencies, universities, and private companies across the 12 Midwestern states and provinces.

The students were accompanied by Michael Weber, adviser of the student subunit and assistant professor in natural resource ecology and management.
