WASHINGTON DC (June 18, 2020) Senator Charles "Chuck" Grassley (R-IA) is highlighting Sean Ulmer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who was appointed to the US Senate Curatorial Advisory board. As Senate president pro tempore, Sen Grassley nominated Ulmer for this role.

“Mr Sean Ulmer’s public service is an asset to Iowa and our nation. Museums, art, and cultural programs provide a valuable and educational service to our communities. The same goes for the Senate Curator’s office as it preserves parts of our history and share exhibits, publications, and programs with the public. As Senate president pro tem, I’m proud to have nominated a highly-qualified Iowan for the job,” Sen Grassley said.

Ulmer has served as the Executive Director of the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art since 2014. Prior to that, he worked as the museum’s Curator of Collections and Exhibitions for ten years. Ulmer also works as an Adjunct Instructor in the Museum Studies Program at the University of Iowa.

The Senate Curatorial Advisory board advises the US Senate Commission on Art on the acquisition and care of the Senate's archives and architecture. It also provides administrative and executive support to the Senate Curator and the Senate Curator’s Office.
