DAVENPORT, IOWA (February 22, 2019) — Davenport Fire crews were dispatched shortly before 8:30PM Thursday to a structure fire in the 500 block of E 7th Street and upon arrival reported fire on the second floor of the home.

Davenport Fire District Chief Mike Ryan says five rigs and command personnel were quickly on scene and entered the building to extinguish the fire. No one was inside at the time of the fire. The home, built in 1880, is a single family rental residence. The bulk of the fire damage was limited to the room of origin.

Damage estimates put the loss to the building at $20,000 and contents at $5000. The house is not habitable at this time.

No injuries were reported. The Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
