MOLINE, ILLINOIS (August 13, 2025) — In celebration of America's upcoming 250th birthday, WQPT is inviting everyone to join us in civic engagement opportunities. As part of our WQPT 250 initiative, we will be volunteering at a different local non-profit each month.

Our first volunteer opportunity will be in support of the amazing work at Nest Cafe in Rock Island. Join us on Saturday, August 30, 2025, to help with prepping ingredients, serving food, washing dishes, and cleaning up. Multiple shifts are available 9:30 AM-2:30PM.

On Thursday, September 11, 2025, 4-7PM, we will volunteer at QC Closet2Closet in Rock Island, where we will help sort clothes and prepare care packages for local foster families.

Our volunteer opportunity for October is our own Imagination Station at WIU-QC in Moline on Saturday, October 11, 8AM-1PM.

More details and future volunteer opportunities can be found at to.wqpt.org/m/volunteer.

"We're the River Cities' Reader, and we've kept the Quad Cities' only independently owned newspaper alive and free since 1993.

So please help the Reader keep going with your one-time, monthly, or annual support. With your financial support the Reader can continue providing uncensored, non-scripted, and independent journalism alongside the Quad Cities' area's most comprehensive cultural coverage." - Todd McGreevy, Publisher
