Stop includes visit with City of Davenport Parks and Recreation to support those with disabilities

DAVENPORT IOWA. – The Journey of Hope North team – part of The Ability Experience –will be arriving in Davenport, on Thursday, July 20 after a 55-mile ride from Iowa City. This is the 40th day of a 3,720-mile cycling event across the country. This group of 30 cyclists and eight crew members is one of three Journey of Hope teams that is dedicating their summer to enhancing the lives of thousands of people with disabilities through grant funding and community engagement. Along the route, the team will partner with local organizations that support people with disabilities and participate in Friendship Visits. The Friendship Visits are a time where the team can interact with the people they are riding in support of while giving them an experience unlike any other they will encounter all year. The Friendship Visits prove to be the most rewarding part of their Journey of Hope Ride. The stop in Davenport brings the team to a friendship visit with City of Davenport Parks and Recreation

Who: Collegiate members of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity from across the nation.

What: Journey of Hope, organized by The Ability Experience, is a cycling trip that raises awareness and support for people with disabilities. Friendship Visits on the route allow team members the opportunity to engage and develop friendships with the community members they are riding in support of. Combined with corporate sponsorships, the three 2017 Journey of Hope teams will raise more than $650,000 for people with disabilities across the nation. The Ability Experience has raised over $15 million in its 40-year history.
