VIDEO: Grassley Reacts to Unanimous Judiciary Committee Approval of FBI Director Nominee

WASHINGTON – The Senate Judiciary Committee, led by Senator Chuck Grassley, today advanced the nomination of Christopher Wray to serve as the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

“Mr. Wray has an impressive legal resume, having spent many years as a federal prosecutor fighting violent crimes and public corruption. He’s received the Justice Department’s highest award for public service and leadership. During his hearing, he spoke of his deep respect for the FBI in keeping Americans Safe, and he pledged that he ‘will never allow the FBI’s work to be driven by anything other than the facts, the law, and the impartial pursuit of justice.’ His unanimous support by the Judiciary Committee today is a strong indication of our faith in his abilities to lead the FBI, and I look forward to confirming him on the Senate floor,” Grassley said.

The nomination will now be reported to the full Senate for further action.

The Judiciary Committee today also reported out the following nominations by voice vote:

·         Trevor McFadden, to be a United States District Judge for the District of Columbia

·         Beth Ann Williams, to be an Assistant Attorney General, Office of Legal Policy

·         John W. Huber, reappointed to be United States Attorney for the District of Utah

·         Justin E. Herdman, to be United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio

·         John E. Town, to be United States Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama
