DAVENPORT, Dec. 19, 2018 – The Kenneth H. McKay Center for Breast Health at Genesis has received the highest level of recognition from National Quality Measures for Breast Health (NQMBC).

The Kenneth H. McKay Center for Breast Health is only the second center in Iowa and is the only center in the region to earn recognition as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence. Only 53 centers nationally have earned the recognition.

“This recognition establishes the Kenneth H. McKay Center for Breast Health as a national leader in breast cancer care,’’ said Susan Herman, RN, BSN, coordinator of the Kenneth H. McKay Center for Breast Health. “Our comprehensive multi-disciplinary approach to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer is providing the care Quad Cities patients need close to home.

“The Kenneth H. McKay Center for Breast Health at Genesis not only addresses a patient's breast cancer, but also their other needs, including psychosocial and spiritual. Our patients have the support of a team of professionals focused on meeting all of their needs.’’

Patients of the Kenneth H. McKay Center for Breast Health also have access to a number of clinical trials.

Using 36 National Quality Indicators™, the NQMBC evaluates breast programs on data from the areas of imaging, surgery, cancer registry, pathology, radiation and

patient satisfaction to determine if high standards are met. The Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence is the highest level of certification a hospital can achieve by the NQMBC.

The national Center of Excellence designation is the second this year for the Kenneth H. McKay Center for Breast Health. Last month the center, in partnership with Genesis Imaging Centers, was designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.

In a coordinated effort offering the latest diagnostic technology and treatment in the Quad Cities, the Kenneth H. McKay, M.D. Center for Breast Health offers all diagnostic procedures and breast health specialists in one location. A team approach offers patients the combined resources of primary care physicians, radiologists, pathologists, surgeons, oncologists, psychologists, nurses, technologists and other support staff.
