Summer Festival Fun
The summer festival season continues! You won't want to miss a weekend in the Quad Cities this July. The Mississippi Valley Blues Festival returns for its 32nd year on June 30-July 1 to LeClaire Park in downtown Davenport with 10 acts. There are plenty of fireworks to lighten up the skies on July 3-4. Red White & Boom on July 3 is a highlight. The Walcott Truckers Jamboree on July 13-15 celebrates America's truckers with exhibits, Trucker Olympics, live music, and fireworks at the world's largest Iowa 80 Truckstop. Run or watch the great Bix 7 road race on July 29 in downtown Davenport and the party continues with Street Fest on July 28-29.
Golf Like the Pros (or just watch)
The John Deere Classic brings the PGA pros to the Quad Cities for a week of great golf on July 10-16!  2016 champ Ryan Moore returns to defend his title, along Zach Johnson, Steve Stricker, Charles Howell III, Boo Weekley, and more.  The tournament was voted the PGA Tournament of the Year.  You can also play like the pros and play one of the 25 golf courses in the area.  The Quad Cities has been named in the top 20 for best value, and the course quality is top-notch too so be sure to pack the clubs. 
 
Art in the Garden
The Quad City Botanical Center, in partnership with River Music Experience, organizes a new summer event on Saturday, July 29!  Art in the Garden is a day of nature and flower gardens, paired with art, music and food. Guests can browse and purchase works of art inspired by nature, enjoy live music and poetry in our in the air-conditioned events canopy, and enjoy cuisine from various food trucks staged throughout the grounds.
New Hotel Opening
The Current Iowa effortlessly blends old-world charm with modern amenities.  The new 78-room luxury boutique hotel is set to open July 19 in downtown Davenport, Iowa.  The renovated Putnam Building, which was built in 1910, was formerly home to the first hotel in the area called the LeClaire House.  The art-inspired hotel pays homage to the best of Midwestern artists.  Try UP, which is the Quad Cities first rooftop bar/restaurant that offers commanding views of the Mississippi. Or try VIVA, the Baja/Mexican restaurant.
 
New Museum about Famous Jazz Musician
A new museum honoring the life and music of the world-famous Davenport native Bix Beiderbecke will soon be a fixture in downtown Davenport. Opening July 24, it will be located on the lower level of the River Music Experience, located at 2nd and Main St. It will be open ahead of the 46th annual Bix Beiderbecke Jazz Festival on August 3-5. The Bix Beiderbecke Museum and Archives features many original artifacts related to Beiderbecke, as well as his piano and a life-size figure of the cornetist in a recreation of the bandstand at Hudson Lake, Indiana. Bix's music will be featured throughout the museum, along with videos, interactive displays, and photos, many shown for the first time.
